Professor Carol C. Gould is the Director of the Center for Global Ethics & Politics at the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, which explores the ethics of globalization and its impact on important social issues like environmental degradation, ethical and cultural conflicts, global justice, human rights and poverty and wealth inequality. The Center's focus on research, seminars and curriculum development aims to bring attention to the need to address important ethical values during the development of public policies that affect the international community's laws, treaties and global institutions.

Dr. Gould is the Editor of The Journal of Social Philosophy, and is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Hunter College and in the PhD programs in Philosophy and Political Science at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She has written and/or edited a number of thought-provoking books including Globalizing Democracy and Human Rights, which was named the 2009 David Easton Best Book Award from the American Political Science Association; Cultural Identity and the Nation-State; and the upcoming book, Interactive Democracy: The Social Roots of Global Justice.
